Plant Based Innovations is a leading manufacturer of cultured dairy & plant-based food products. The company supplies private label plant-based products for a number of the large and influential retailers across the US.

The Account Manager is the primary contact for our customers and is responsible for top line and bottom line growth of business with key customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with key customers and discover opportunites that result in business growth. Understanding of yogurt/dairy/grocery category data/trends and consumer insights is a big plus
  • Manage customer expectations
  • Develop and execute annual plans and customer specific tactics to meet sales and profit goals including active monitoring of business fundamentals (pricing, distribution, velocities) and deployment of action plans
  • Responsible for Project Management of new product launches. Work hand in hand with Product Development team, Production team, and Finance & Accounting.
  • Manage project workflows and timelines. Ensure that suitable risk assessment and contingency planning takes place for relevant projects, is communicated and agreed upon by all stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with private label specific retailer requirements. Examples include product and packaging requirements, new item launch expectations, specification database compliance, and facility audits
  • Ensures finance and brand teams are apprised of cost nuances specific to retailer's private label program and provides guidance on appropriate retail and cost dynamics reflective of market conditions
  • Set up effective relationships with peers and executive team

Reporting Relationship

Reports to VP Sales

Experience

  • Experience working on a private label program at a supplier or retailer is ideal, along with a working knowledge of perishable/refrigerated food manufacturing
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of the industry, the customer, the product, and the competition
  • Proven experience selling/maintaining major customers
  • Should have experience in strategic decision making, team building, and negotiations
  • Understanding of large-scale retailer private label needs and opportunities
  • Understanding of how to target and establish key relationships across a retailer to successfully sell, development, and launch of products
  • Effective communication skills
  • Negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong organizing organization skills, ability to engage the various professional people working on a project
  • Priority Setting (incl. Planning & Measuring Work)
  • Timely Decision Making
